Mini Haul from Ebay! Etude House Drawing Eyebrow

, , , , , , Be the first to comment!
Total haul - click for larger image.
I purchased the Etude House Drawing Eyebrow Refill in Black Brown from WorldMarket201010 on Ebay because I found the Eyebrow pencil to be slightly reminiscent of the Anastasia Brow Wiz pencil, but for a much more affordable price. I bought this on 7/17/13 and it just arrive on 7/29/13 (12 days is super speedy for overseas shipping, so they get major props!), and it came with 3 samples from TonyMoly! I'm super happy at the speed of the shipping and the samples, seeing that I only paid $3.55 for the refill. I have also bought the actual pencil in Black for $3.91 on 7/19/13, but from a different seller, which arrived today 7/30/13, but with no samples.

Anastasia Brow Wiz - click for larger image.
I wanted a Anastasia Brow Wiz quite badly, mostly because the only thing that really matched my brows was an eyeshadow in a NYX palette (believe me, I've tried my share of eyeliners also), and it was a lot more work to draw on brows than just using a pencil type applicator and spoolie-ing, but I couldn't justify spending the $21 on what essentially was an eyeliner with a spoolie attached, so, I started my witch-hunt for the perfect low-cost alternative.

Haul opened - click for larger image.
Overall, I like the Etude House Drawing Eyebrow Pencil more than the Anastasia Brow Wiz because as it is an asian cosmetics brand, they have more colors that are suitable for asian coloration. I don't want to come off as racist, but I find that Anastasia Brow Wiz usually looked a little bit browner/redder or lighter than what I want my brow color to be and I cannot use the ebony color, especially since I have my hair dyed a little reddish. Etude House Drawing Eyebrow Pencil is a very nice alternative for me.

Brow pencils swatched - click for larger image.
These pencils are definitely not as smooth as the Anastasia Brow Wiz, but I prefer it more that way, so that I do not overdraw my eyebrows. The Etude House pencil also comes with a slant tip, which makes it easier to fill in larger portions of your brows, as most asians tend to go for a heavier brow look, or it is more in style currently in Korea and other asian countries, more brows tend to make a person look younger, which is what most asian girls look for, for that uzzlang look. The pencil also comes with a small spoolie brush, much like the one that comes with the brow wiz, and they sell refills, so you don't have to throw away an entire pencil. I love how thoughtful Etude House was with their packaging, and I'm definitely in love with this eyebrow pencil!

In short, I love this pencil, and I would definitely recommend trying it if you are looking for a cheaper, easier to use alternative that is in pencil form!

Thanks for joining me!

Samples - click for larger image.
Foundation, primer and fragrance, complete with a nice Sephora makeup bag. Left to Right, Hourglass foundation, Marc Jacobs Daisy x2, Fresh Black Tea age-delay cream, Sephora makeup bag.

That rounded up my haul. If you'd like any swatches from any of these products, please feel free to comment below! I will slowly be reviewing these things as I go, but I'll have you guys know that I returned the Benefit - How to Look the Best at Everything set because the foundation and powder that was included made me look orange-y, not a flattering look.

Review: OCC Lip Tar Pro Picks v1.0

, , , , , , , , , , 1 Comment so far
ALL the liptars! Click for larger image. (Lips bare.)

I've saved the best set for last, let me introduce my favorite Lip Tar Set out of the three: Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar Pro Picks v1.0!

This set contains a wearable light pink, a coral, a nude-y neutral, a blue based red, and a dark red, which can I just say that I'm head over heels in LOVE with.. So, without further ado, swatches!

Ophelia - click for larger image.

First off, Ophelia! It's a nice pale pink color that doesn't make my NC20 skin look super dark like Femme did! It'd be perfect for no-makeup-makeup and even though I wouldn't purchase it if it wasn't in the kit (I'm just not really daring enough for pale pinks), I'm super glad it was included in the kit because it looks so nice and almost natural!

Grandma, click for larger image.

Grandma! The one lip tar that EVERYONE and their grandma (haha) has been raving about. Unfortunately, it felt a little brighter than what I saw in swatches, but it's none-the-less a very pretty coral color. After swatching it, I decided that it probably wouldn't be a color that I'd go out and purchase on my own, but, it's super nice to have in the kit!

Melange, click for larger image.

This color is almost my perfect MLBB color, it's better than Revlon Stain in Honey for me, and boy am I in love. Melange and I are kind of a thing, she looks super natural on my lips and, yeah, I think we're in love now. I would probably pick it up by itself because it's this great neutrally-pink that I always need more of! Sidenote: I should probably swatch this compared to my Givenchy Brun Creatur, because this pinky-nude looks really similar! Stay tuned for swatches!

Stalker, click for larger image.

Stalker is a gorgeous blue-based red that makes my teeth look like they've just gotten a whitening treatment. I LOVE it, it's slightly reminiscent of Ruby Woo/RiRi Woo for me, so I'll swatch HAVE to it next to Ruby Woo sometime (please remind me). I just LOVE reds like this one.

Vintage, click for larger image.

As always, I've saved the best for last! Vintage is such a beautiful dark red color that lasted me about 8 hours of wear (including eating a LOT of messy, cajun shrimp). I love it, and the picture literally doesn't do it justice, as my light source kind of fluctuates. It's not as bright as Stalker (even though it looks that way in the picture), and it really provides a kind of depth to your lip. I guess the color they were going for when they mixed it is the vintage pinup red, and I LOVE it. I predict that lining lips with Vintage and filling in with Stalker in an Ombre-like way would 1. be GORGEOUS, 2. plump your lips slightly due to the darker to lighter gradient.

Overall, I LOVE this kit, and I definitely would repurchase it when I finish using it, as a kit of course! I have application tips in my two previous lip tar review posts, if you'd like some. Have you tried any liptars? What are your favorites?

Review: Bite Beauty Colour and Shine To Go

, , , , , , , , , Be the first to comment!
First of all, let me preface this with sorry, I'm barefaced today and you can probably see all my acne scars and gross bits. I don't have any foundation or eyeliner on, mostly because I've been busy helping out my parents. Buut, you're here for beauty, not to hear my story, so, onto the review!

Bite Beauty set - click for larger image. (Barelips, excuse my skin)
The Bite Beauty set was much, much smaller than what I really, truly expected. Each lipstick was about the size of the top of my pinky, and even though it was on sale, reduced from $15 to $12, I still did not think it was worth my money, but then I thought, since Cin Cin and Tannin were such beautiful colors, maybe swatches on my lips would sway me..

Champagne Pearl on lips, click for larger image.
And boy was I wrong. Champagne Pearl looked so promising in the tube with it's nudey color and beautiful golden sparkles, but it definitely did not have that kind of payoff on me. It at best looked like a clear sparkly gloss, I was naturally a little disappointed, but hey, maybe it's my naturally pigmented lips, or they meant for it that way? Anyways, onto the next swatch.

Top lip bare, bottom lip Tannin, click for larger image.
Again, I didn't see too much of a color payoff. I used my clean, dry OCC lip brush, and I took a lot of swipes on the lipstick, the poor thing was almost a eighth gone by the time I was done, AND I only used that product on my bottom lip. It's a pretty color, but it's definitely not the orangey color I was expecting, and not in a good way. It felt very sheer looking and I feel like I could have used a much cheaper alternative for the color.

Cin Cin with Champagne Pearl on top, click for larger image.
Not willing to give up on the set yet, I tried on Cin Cin with Champagne Pearl on top. It looked a little better, but honestly, I think that this color could have been achieve with probably two or three swipes of a Revlon Lip Butter or something.

Top lip bare, bottom lip Tannin, click for larger image.
Tannin was a color I was super excited for. Dark reds are one of my favorite kinds of lipsticks, so I tried it on my bottom lip, and felt kind of cheated. The color was very similar to my Wet 'n' Wild Dark Wine, which at $1 a pop, blows this stuff out of the water budget-wise. I used the same technique that I employed for putting on Cin Cin.

Left to Right, Wet N Wild 514A, OCC Stalker, Tannin, Wet N Wild 552A, Click for larger image.
Although it may not look like it in the picture, Wet N Wild 514A is remarkably similar to Tannin without light directly hitting it, it has more of a sheen and Tannin is more matte. I cannot currently find my Wet n Wild Dark Wine, so am unable to make the comparison, although it should be noted that Wet n Wild lipsticks, the $1 ones, usually do have some glitter in it so it will not look matte.

Tannin with Champagne Pearl, click for larger image.
I thought everyone deserved a third chance, including Champagne Pearl, so I swiped it on top of Tannin. No luck. Tannin looked shinier, but the color didn't change. Guess Champagne Pearl just didn't want to cooperate with me or something.

Overall, I feel that Bite Beauty is not worth the money for me, and their products are better suited for people who are looking for, and I quote this from the Sephora website, "products free from synthetics, polybutenes, and petroleum by-products." I mean, it's nice and all, but I'm really not in that kind of spending bracket yet, especially not because I can easily find these types of colors for lower prices. Sorry Bite Beauty! I love the way the products smell and how good they are for you, but they're just a tad too pricey for a penny pincher like me.

I-Wanted-Points-And-Samples Haul Part II

, , , , , , , , Be the first to comment!
Entire haul - click for larger image.

As you probably already know, I love splitting my larger Sephora orders into two seperate, smaller orders so I can get more samples, so, here's part two! The portion with the Lorac Unzipped and the Bite Beauty!

Lorac Unzipped unboxed! Click for larger image.
I've honestly heard so many good things about Bite Beauty's lipsticks, and what better way to try it than when they're on sale? I got the Colour + Shine To Go kit, which included two Luminous Crème Mini Lipsticks in Tannin and CinCin and one Mini Lip Shine in Champagne Pearl. I'm super excited about the Bite Beauty set and will be swatching and reviewing soon!

Lorac and Bite Beauty opened - Click for larger image.
The Lorac Unzipped looks super pretty, with one small exception. Some of these shadows have some sort of a line going across them. As I will be using the set that my boyfriend has gotten me, they don't worry me too much, but if I were buying them for my own use, these are getting returned for sure..

Total Haul:
  • Lorac Unzipped palette
  • Bite Beauty Colour + Shine To Go
  • Chloe deluxe perfume sample
  • Hanae Mori perfume sample
  • Marc Jacob Daisy perfume sample
  • Cartier Declaration d'un Soir men's cologne sample (for my baby)
I got the Chloe deluxe perfume sample by using YOURGIFT as my coupon code. What do you think of my haul?

Haul: Hautelook Summer Essentials Bag

, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , Be the first to comment!
Hautelook Summer Essentials Bag, from their website, click for larger image.
I ordered the HauteLook Summer Beauty Bag on 7/12, and received it today, 7/25. It took about two weeks for the order to arrive, but it's pretty normal for HauteLook. I was very excited about this bag when I saw it on the HauteLook website because it contained a full sized Lorac mascara ($23 retail), NYX Round Lipstick($4 retail), Mirenesse Lip Bomb ($35 retail) and some small sample sized things including an Urban Decay Lip Pencil, and L'Occitane Shea Hand Cream.

Entire Bag! It was packed inside a box with no bubblewrap. Click for larger image.
However, I was just a little bit disappointed when it arrived. My Miracle 10 AHA Cream wasn't sealed properly and leaked. It was something that I was looking forward to, but thankfully, everything else was usable and in good condition. I messaged customer service, and although they were not able to replace the cream for me, they offered me a $10 refund and a $10 HauteLook credit, which isn't bad!

I spent $27.55 on the bag, including the shipping, but after the refund and the HauteLook credit, I would have spent $7.55. Lets see if the contents of the bag is worth the potential $27.55.

Bag Opened! Click for larger image.
Set contained:

The bag was most definitely worth it for the $27.55 price tag, and even more worth it for $7.55.

Bag with everything opened up. Click for larger image.
Out of the entire bag, the thing that I didn't like the most, other than the cream that spilled, was the Crown brushes. The largest brush had very stiff, spiky bristles and did not have a good texture. The set felt very cheap and low quality. If all Crown Brushes are like this, I would definitely not purchase them, I can confidently say that my black professional elf brushes are much, much better.

Up close look of Crown Brush Travel Set, click for larger image.
I'll review these products as I get the chance to try them out! Here's my HauteLook Referral Link, if you'd like to sign up with it, if not, here's the link to HauteLook without the referral!

Review: OCC Lip Tar Pro Picks v2.0

, , , , , , , , , , Be the first to comment!
Small preview of liptars!

All the lip tars, lips are bare with the exception of chapstick! They're all in the bag together instead of seperated like v1.0 or v3.0. Click for larger image.
Long overdue review for Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar Pro Picks v2.0, which contains Iced, Kava Kava, Lydia, Hoochie and Pretty Boy! I absolutely adored this set, probably even more than I liked v3.0, mostly because some of the colors that are given in this set look so bold and like something I wouldn't use, but end up looking much prettier than what I envisioned. My lips are naturally quite pigmented and these liptars cover up the pigmentation quite well. So, without further ado, lip tar swatches!

Iced, click for larger image.
Sorry for the slightly darker image, I photographed these in natural light, and it fluctuated throught the session. I will probably not be using Iced by itself anytime soon, but I may mix it with something like Hoochie or Pretty Boy or even Femme to get a softer color. I may even use Iced for highlighter on my cheekbones, nose or cupid's bow. I think it's a useful liptar to have, but I would not have bought it, if it were seperate.

Kava Kava, click for larger image.

Guys, I found my perfect nude lip! It's beautiful and it's definitely Kava Kava. It's got that peachy, corally look without being too much, and it's the perfect color for intense smokey eyes or a natural look. I'm totally in love with Kava Kava, it's going to be the liptar that runs out first for me, and I will definitely repurchase, or buy if it weren't included in a set.

Lydia, click for larger image.

I was definitely not planning on liking Lydia. It looked like a dusty purple in the tube, but was this beautiful pinkish-berry-I-don't-even-know-how-to-describe-it color that looks totally natural with my skintone and I guess Lydia and I are kind of a thing now. It's a color that says that you're wearing lipstick, but not going overboard, it's definitely what I think a classy lady would wear, and I love it!

Hoochie, click for larger image.
Now for the fun colors! Hoochie is a magenta color that literally screams fun, while it's not neon magenta, it's pretty close. It's definitely very eye catching and I think I may be brave enough to venture out with it, but it probably would not be a color that I would pick up if it wasn't in a set.
Pretty Boy, click for larger image.
Last but not least, we have Pretty Boy! Pretty Boy is a bright fuschia that worked much better than I expected on my skintone. Like Hoochie, it's very fun and eye catching, but it's not a color that I'd pick up on my own, but I do like it and hope I can wear it out someday. I may consider making the color lighter with frost, or not as intense with clear mixed in, or as a tar-blush. How fun would that be!

To apply, I used my elf Lip Exfoliator first, then used a lip balm, then used the lip brush that came with the kit to line my lips with the lip tar, then fill in. It was super easy, and only takes me about 3-5 minutes each time. These lip tars are also super long lasting, and I can even eat in them! I'm super happy about this lip set, I think that all the colors are really pretty and can be used for either lip, cheek or contour or mixed for more colors! What do you think? Will you be getting this set?

Thanks for joining me! Hope to see you next time!

Review: Chanel Perfection Lumiere vs Lancome Visionnaire

, , , , , Be the first to comment!
Chanel vs Lancome. Click for larger image.
I've been looking for a nice high end foundation to splurge on when I get my first real job, so today, I visited the Chanel and the Lancome counter at the local mall. Both makeup counters are available in Nordstrom and Macy's, the ladies were friendly, albeit a little pushy, but the experience went alright. I opted for a little more coverage, and went with Chanel Perfection Lumiere instead of Chanel Aqua Vitalumiere, and the new-er Lancome Visionnaire instead of the Teint Idole Ultra 24H. On my to-try list are Estee Lauder Double Wear and Lancome Teint Idole.

The Chanel lady added on powder and put Chanel Rose Bronze on my cheeks, which is beautiful and gives such a nice soft glow that it is on my to-purchase list now. Overall, I think I like the Chanel Perfection Lumiere more than the Lancome Visionnaire because it feels lighter, and it seems to be holding up better, although it could be because the side with Lancome did not have powder.
Chanel side - click for larger image.
Both foundations seemed to have oxidized a bit, the Lancome one seemed to have oxidized more so than the Chanel because under the store light, both foundations matched my face when they went on. You can see that the Lancome Visionnaire has a big splotch of white where the lady put on the concealer in the cap.

Lancome side - click for larger image.
Both foundations are holding up quite nicely in the rainy weather, and have held up for ~7 hours now, and still going pretty strong. However, I find that I am getting a small whitehead on the Chanel side. As I am not close to my cycle, I am pretty sure it's not hormonal. Since I did not get a sample of the Chanel foundation, I'm unable to test whether it is the formula that is breaking me out, but I do want to try out the Sun Protection Liquid Foundation SPF 42 PA+++, which someone has reviewed on MakeupAlley as what the Chanel foundation wants to be.
Chanel Perfection Lumiere vs Barefaced, Chanel seems to give a glow, which is nice, but that glow kind of illuminates the rises and falls in the skin, from acne or pitted scars. Click for larger images

Lancome seemed to give me more matte coverage, but you can see that the concealer, which used to be the same color, is definitely two shades lighter at this point. Click for larger images.

Looking at my pictures today, nothing about these foundations impress me so much that I want to buy them right away, in fact, they seem like the better smelling versions of my MAC foundation with less coverage, I feel that my Revlon Colorstay Whipped also worked as well, or maybe even better than these foundations. I will continue my search for THE one foundation for me and I hope you'll join me on this journey! Have you found your HG foundation? What is it? What do you think I should try next?

Review: e.l.f. Lip Exfloliator

, , , , Be the first to comment!
Lip exfoliator opened. Click for larger picture.
I tried out the elf Lip Exfoliator today! It was definitely very moisturizing, about as good as my babylips, but with added exfoliating! I actually wanted to buy a Fresh Lip Treatment, but at $22.50, the price was a little too steep for the amount of product that I would have gotten. This was my dupe for the Fresh Lip Treatment, although the elf Lip Exfoliators do not have colors like the lip treatments, but it makes a pretty good dupe for the clear Fresh Lip Treatment.

The regular price of this elf Lip Exfoliator is $3.00 on the eyeslipsface website, and I think it's well worth the money. Although my regular lip exfoliation treatment is only olive oil and brown sugar, using my homemade lip exfoliation is a lot messier than using this lip exfoliating 'lipstick'. It's very convenient and I love the smell.
Lip exfoliator, fully extended. Click for larger picture.
My only qualm with this lip exfoliator is that it doesn't look like it has a lot of product, for the $3.00. I love how the exfoliator looks in the case though, it's really neat and the exfoliating portion winds all the way in, so you won't accidentally cut it.
Lip exfoliator close. Click for larger picture.

This lip exfoliator will be super useful before putting on my OCC Lip Tars, because the Lip Tar is kind of drying and tends to settle in each of the little cracks in my lips. Hope you enjoyed my review! Have you tried any lip exfoliators lately? Comment to tell me about them!

Haul: e.l.f.

, , , , , , , , , Be the first to comment!
I placed this order with e.l.f. during their 50% off sitewide sale on 7/9/2013, and it arrived yesterday at 7/18/2013, so as usual, e.l.f. orders take much, much longer to get to me than Sephora or even Drugstore.com orders.

Haul ALL the things! Click for larger picture.

Haul contains:
  • Eyebrow Kit - Dark
  • Lip Exfoliator
  • Blush - Pink Passion
  • Complexion Brush
  • Powder Brush
  • Stipple Brush
  • Kabuki Face Brush
  • 11 Piece Studio Brush Collection
  • Baked Eyeshadow Palette in California and NYC (Supposed dupe for Sephora Baked Eyeshadows)

Brush set opened! Click for larger picture.
I'm super excited to start breaking in my brushes, they're very soft, especially the kabuki brush! I originally only had 1 elf studio brush, the eyeshadow C brush, and it's pretty good. I have opened the Lip Exfoliator and it smells vanilla-y and heavenly! I've heard a lot of good things about the brushes that I've ordered and would love to review it after I've gotten some use out of them.

Thanks for joining me! Reviews and Swatches to come!

Review: NYC Tudor City Teal

, , , , , Be the first to comment!
Polishes I used! Left to Right - NYC Mattifying Top Coat,  NYC Tudor City Teal, Sinful Colors You Just Wait

NYC Tudor City Teal is definitely a fun summery color. I bought the nail polish yesterday during the NYC buy one get one free sale at Rite Aid. For a 50 cent nail polish, it is surprisingly good and becomes opaque after 2 coats, although I had to do 3 coats because I don't paint nails very well, and left streaks. This color is very similar to Zoya Wednesday, Wet 'n' Wild I Need a Refresh-Mint, but much more budget friendly, especially while on sale!

3 coats of polish - click for larger picture.
I feel like this color would look exceptionally pretty under a matte overcoat or maybe even a sheer duochrome overcoat, like Sinful Color's You Just Wait.
Matte Coat
I didn't like the matte overcoat at first, but it's really starting to grow on me.

You Just Wait over thumb
This overcoat makes the color look a little lighter and prettier, my own opinion, of course, but I still kind of prefer the matte overcoat to this one.

Thanks for joining me!
